Report March 2023

This month we published 5 new translations, all pertaining to the Longchen Nyingtik phowa practice; 1 in English, 3 in German and 1 in French. We also published the most extensive section of our analysis of a new edition of the Longchen Nyintik Tsapö pertaining to the sections on the generation phase on our blog.

From the murals of Shechen Monastery.

Our first text is A Prayer to the Lineage Gurus of the Profound Path of Transference, from the Heart-Essence of the Vast Expanse, attributed to Patrul Rinpoche. This prayer to the lineage of the Longchen Nyingtik transference (phowa) practice is not included in current editions of Patrul Rinpoche's collected works but does appear in several liturgies.

Then several phowa texts were translated based on our English translation into German, starting with the treasure text by Jigme Lingpa: Eine Praxis der Übertragung: Erleuchtung ohne Meditation, aus der Herz-Essenz der Weiten Ausdehnung. Secondly there is the arrangement by the Fourth Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Eine Praxis der Übertragung: Erleuchtung ohne Meditation, aus der Herz-Essenz der Weiten Ausdehnung. And finally there is Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa’s Wunschgebet für eine Wiedergeburt in Sukhāvatī.

Then in French there is the Fourth Dodrupchen’s Une liturgie pour le transfert “L'Éveil sans méditation”, Extrait de la “L’Essence du cœur de la vaste étendue”, which was translated directly from the Tibetan by Drupchen (Hélios Hildt) and the Comité de traduction française de Rigpa.

On our blog you can find Part 2: The Generation Phase of our Analysis of a 2022 Edition of the Core Texts (Tsapö). It contains a detailed analysis of those volumes that contain the texts of the Longchen Nyingtik concerning the generation phase (kyerim), books 44-49:

  • 44 Collection of Prayers

  • 45 Rigdzin Düpa and Palchen Düpa

  • 46 Yumka and Senge Dongma

  • 47 Dukngal Rangdrol and Takhyung Barwa

  • 48 Offerings to the Guru and Guru sadhanas

  • 49 Chö and Phowa

In the next months we aim to complete all the remaining texts of the Longchen Nyingtik phowa, publish a short text by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche presenting a summary on the Longchen Nyingtik and Nyingtik Yabhsyi cycles, and more, so stay tuned!
