Report August 2025: Daily Rigdzin Düpa & Bundle of Grains Thobyig

This month we have published two new texts, made a major revision to the Yumka practice and added three new pages to the website. Also, we are working to professionalize our mailing list.

The first text is an extract from Precious Bundle of Grains: A Record of Received Teachings for the Collected Works of the Omniscient Guru Jigme Lingpa and Patrul Orgyen Jigme Chökyi Wangpo, which was compiled and composed by the Shechen Monastery Organisation Committee, when Rabjam Rinpoche transmitted these collections in 2019 at Shechen Monastery in Nepal.

Our second text is one we have been looking for for many years, namely a concise daily practice for Rigdzin Düpa: Daily Practice for the Inner Practice of the Gathering of Vidyādharas (ནང་སྒྲུབ་རིག་འཛིན་འདུས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཁྱེར་), which was written by the Second Penor, Rigdzin Palchen Düpa. This concise daily practice of Rigdzin Düpa, the inner guru sādhana of the Longchen Nyingtik, was compiled by the Second Penor Rinpoche, who, while integrating the Longchen Nyingtik into the Palyul tradition, composed many texts for the cycle. Here he combines the main terma of Rigdzin Düpa with the longevity practice "The Vase of Immortal Life". We want to extend our gratitude to Amchi Tsering Chödron, who brought this text to our attention.

Finally, we have thoroughly revised and refined our translation of the Yumka Dechen Gyalmo sadhana. We strongly encourage all practitioners to obtain this updated version for their practice. Our sincere gratitude goes to Patrick Gaffney for his exceptional editorial expertise.

Our first new page is dedicated to daily sadhanas of the Longchen Nyingtik. If you are either

  • a new practitioner who is looking for a short and simple practice

  • or an experienced practitioner who has already done long term retreat

Then in both of these cases, concise daily practices might be just what you need.

Then there is a new page listing the Dzogchen texts of the Longchen Nyingtik. Based on the innermost, unexcelled cycle of the category of pith instructions, Jigme Lingpa distilled the essence of the Dzogchen tantras, presenting primarily the practical instructions for trekchö and tögal.

Finally, we added a new page for the Zhitro practice of the Longchen Nyingtik, Purifying the Lower Realms: The Peaceful and Wrathful Deities. From the tantra and sādhana sections, this practice belongs to the tantras and is considered the king among all practices. It is especially effective for repairing impairments and breakages and purifying thoughts and obscurations. It is the supreme method that liberates all sentient beings from the suffering of the lower realms and grants them the fortune of unsurpassed attainment. Almost all texts of this cycle still await publication.
