This month we published five new translations: 2 in English, 2 in French and one major text in German.
In January we were fortunate to meet with Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Sean Price in Bodhgaya, to discuss the publication of texts of the 2nd and 3rd empowerments that concern the practices of the channels and pranas (tsalung) and the yantras (trulkhor).
We are pleased to announce that we will now regularly publish texts in German. Our first offering is no ordinary text, but Jigme Lingpa's Ladder to Akaniṣṭha, translated by Theresa Bachhuber.
Our first new text is The Common and Uncommon Preliminary Practices, by Jigme Lingpa. Ever wondered how the Longchen Nyingtik Ngöndro was compiled by the First Dodrupchen? Here you can look at Jigme Lingpa’s original writings of the common and uncommon preliminary practices of the Longchen Nyingtik, together with supplementary recitations such as the blessing of speech, the calling of the guru from afar and the bodhisattva vow.
It is a text of considerable historical importance: its common preliminaries—the contemplations on the four thoughts that turn the mind from saṃsāra and the ritual for taking the bodhisattva vow—later formed the basis for the famous compilation of the Longchen Nyingtik Ngöndro by the First Dodrupchen, and for Patrul Rinpoche's well-known bodhisattva vow liturgy. The uncommon preliminaries provide the Vajrayāna practices of refuge, bodhicitta, Vajrasattva recitation, maṇḍala offering and the chöd accumulation of merit. In this way, the text encompasses all three vehicles of Buddhism: the reflections that engender renunciation belonging to the Fundamental Vehicle, the Mahāyāna cultivation of bodhicitta, and the Vajrayāna practices of the inner preliminaries. Finally, it is most likely here that Jigme Lingpa first wrote his Praise of the Twelve Acts of the Buddha.
Our second text is The Preliminaries and Main Practice: A Concise Path, by Jigme Lingpa. This is a concise practice combining refuge and bodhicitta, the seven branches, an aspiration for rebirth in a pure realm, and mantra recitation, composed especially for elderly practitioners.
From time to time we also collaborate with the Buddhist Digital Resource Center (BDRC) in order to make rare texts of the Longchen Nyingtik available in the Tibetan language. With thanks to Khenpo Sonam Tsewang, we managed to get our hands on a drupkok written by Chatral Rinpoche in the Earth-Dragon year (1988), which somehow seems to have been omitted from his collected works. We sent the text to BDRC and they have now uploaded it to their website.

La Libération naturelle de la souffrance : Pratique secrète du Grand Compatissant selon l’Essence du cœur de l’immensité, révélée par Rigdzin Jigmé Lingpa.
Voici le sādhana de Dukngal Rangdrol, ou « Libération naturelle de la souffrance ». Cette pratique d’Avalokiteśvara issue du Longchen nyingtik peut être classée soit comme une pratique de yidam paisible, soit comme la pratique secrète du guru dans la section du cycle consacrée aux vidyādhara masculins et paisibles.

Voici l’un des deux commentaires composés par Jigmé Lingpa sur la pratique de Dukngal Rangdrol (une forme d’Avalokiteśvara) qu’il a révélée. Ici, le maître offre une explication mot à mot du sādhana, couvrant les éléments préliminaires et la partie principale, de façon simple, mais précise. Il ne commente pas la section d’offrande de festin, qui fut ajoutée plus tard par le premier Dodrupchen, Jigmé Trinlé Özer (1745–1821).

Leiter nach Akaniṣṭha, Eine Erklärung der Entwicklungsphase der Gottheiten-Meditation, von Jigme Lingpa. In dieser umfassenden Abhandlung erläutert Jigme Lingpa Theorie und Praxis der Entwicklungsphase. Er stützt sich dabei sowohl auf Mahāyoga-Tantras wie das Guhyagarbha-Tantra als auch auf Kommentare wie die Stufen des Pfades von Buddhaguhya und beschreibt 1) den philosophischen Rahmen, auf dem die Praxis der Entwicklungsphase basiert, einschließlich der drei Samādhis, 2) den Pfad selbst, einschließlich der vier Nägel, die die Lebenskraft binden, und der vier Vidyādhara-Ebenen, und 3) das Resultat: die fünf Kāyas.
